( 9 ) The Foolish Wolf’s Flute

A lot lamb wandered to the edge of the woods

where it was

concentrated on grazing without being cautious.

A hungry wolf walked out of the woods to go to

the pasture where

many sheep grazed.

On its way, it met the lost lamb and was happy

that it did not have

to risk going to the flock where there were sheep

dogs and watchful

shepherds.

“How nice that dinner has walked to me without

me doing any

work” it went to the lamb who was still grazing,

unaware.

The wolf ran towards the lamb to eat it. When the

wolf got close,

the lamb saw and tried to escape, but the wolf was

too fast.

As the wolf was about to kill the lamb, an idea

struck in the lamb’s

mind.

The lamb pleaded, “Oh wolf! I know that I am

going to die now.

Will you be kind enough to fulfil my last wish?”

The wolf asked, “What is your last wish?” The

lamb replied, “I am

fond of music. Before I die, I wish to hear you

play the flute.” The

wolf agreed and played the flute.

When the wolf stopped the lamb said, “Oh! what

beautiful music!

Will you play a bit louder, please? You play far

better than my

shepherd”.

The wolf was pleased by the flattery and started to

play louder. In

the mean time, the shepherd and the dogs who

were in search of the

missing lamb heard the sound. They came running

and caught hold

of the wolf. The lamb happily trotted away to his

flock.

“If there is a will there is a way. “

ปี่ของหมาป่าจอมเขลา

ลูกแกะตัวหนึ่งพลัดหลงฝูงออกมาถึงชายป่า เพราะ

มัวแต่เพลิดเพลิน

กับการเล็มหญ้าจนลืมระวังตัว


หมาป่าผู้หิวโหยตัวหนึ่งเดินออกมาจากป่าลึก เพื่อ

จะไปยังทุ่งกว้างที่

มีฝูงแกะจำนวนมากหากินอยู่

  ระหว่างทางพบกับลูกแกะหลงทางเข้า หมาป่าจึงดี

ยิ่งนัก เพราะว่ามัน

ไม่ต้องเสี่ยงเดินทางไปหาฝูงแกะที่มีหมาเลี้ยงแกะ

และเจ้าของแกะที่

คอยระวังแจ

“ช่างดีจริง มีเนื้อเดินเข้ามาถึงปากโดยไม่ต้องเสีย

เหงื่อ” มันจ้องลูก

แกะซึ่งยังคงเล็มหญ้าอยู่อย่างไม่รู้ตัว

เจ้าหมาป่าเห็นดังนั้นมันจึงรีบตรงเข้าไปยังลูกแกะ

ตัวดังกล่าว เพื่อ

หมายขย้ำกินให้สมอยากเมื่อหมาป่าเข้ามาใกล้ ลูก

แกะก็เห็นเข้า และ

พยายามจะหนี แต่หมาป่าก็ไล่ต้อนจนจนมุม

ขณะที่หมาป่าจะจับลูกแกะกินเป็นอาหาร ลูกแกะ

น้อยเกิดความคิด

อย่างหนึ่งขึ้นมา

ขลูกแกะจึงร้องวิงวอนต่อหมาป่า “พี่หมาป่าจ๋า หนูรู้

ดีว่าหนูกำลังจะ

ตาย พี่พอจะใจดีทำสิ่งหนึ่งให้หนูก่อนตายได้ไหม

จ๊ะ

 

หมาป่าจึงเอ๋ยถาม “แล้วสิ่งสุดท้ายที่เจ้าปรารถนา

คืออะไรหล่ะ” ลูก

แกะตอบว่า “ก่อนหนูตาย หนูอยากให้พี่หมาป่าเป่า

ปี่ให้หนูฟัง” หมา

ป่าตกลงตามข้อร้องขอและเป่าปี่ให้ลูกแกะฟัง

เมื่อหมาป่าหยุดเป่าปี่ ลูกแกะเอ๋ยขึ้นว่า “โอ้ว! เพลง

อะไรกันนี้ช่าง

ไพเราะจับใจเสียจริง ! พี่ช่วยเป่าให้ดังขึ้นอีกหน่อย

น่ะจ๊ะ พี่เป่าปี่ได้

ไพเราะกว่าคนเลี้ยงแกะที่เลี้ยงฉันเสียอีก”
 

หมาป่าหลงไปกับคำสอพลอของลูกแกะ และเป่าปี่

ดังขึ้น ในเวลานั้น

คนเลี้ยงแกะและสุนัขเฝ้าแกะที่กำลังมองหาลูกแกะ

ที่หายไปก็ได้ยิน

เสียงปี่ พวกเขาจึงวิ่งไปตามเสียงและเข้าจับหมาป่า

ตัวนั้น ลูกแกะรีบ

วิ่งไปหาฝูงของมันด้วยความความดีใจ
 

นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า


“ทุกอย่างย่อมมีทางออกหากมีสติ ความตั้งใจในการแก้ไข”
